Strang is governed by a town board composed of five members elected by the village residents to a 4-year term. Board meetings are held at 7 p.m. at the 4-H community hall on the 2nd Monday of each month.
Police protection is provided by the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department. Fire and rescue unit services are provided by neighboring towns.
The Village Board and the Strang Community Improvement organization (CIP) spearhead
Strang's improvement projects, general upkeep of the town and the promotion
of tourism. The local softball and baseball teams, the Strang Sewing Club, and 4-H Club
also provide assistance in promoting the community
Pancake Day, hosted by the Strang CIP is an annual event held the last Sunday of February from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Students in the Strang school district have the option of attending any school in the area. Nearby schools include Bruning/Davenport Unified School District, Fillmore Central Public Schools, Meridian Public School, and Shickley Public School. Schools provide bus service.
Strang is served by the new Fillmore County Hospital that opened March 1, 2012. It is an acute care hospital just 8 miles north of Strang in Geneva. The hospital is licensed by the state of Nebraska and approved for Medicare and Medicaid. Five family physicians and one physician assistant make up the local active medical staff. Fillmore County Hospital has 70 sub-specialty physicians on courtesy/consulting staff. Diagnostic, X-Ray, CT, MR, mammography, nuclear bone scans, nuclear cardiolite, ultrasound, and cardiac rehab are other hospital services. Specialty clinics are held on a regular basis. A dentist, two chiropractors and an optometrist have offices in Geneva as well.
